Fire Extinguisher Science Project
It's easy to make a homemade fire extinguisher using kitchen materials.
One common type of fire extinguisher uses carbon dioxide to starve the
fire of oxygen. You can generate this gas from any of several chemical
reactions and make a simple unit to disperse the gas. This makes a great
science project! Kick it up a notch by applying the Ideal Gas Law to
maximize the distance you can spray the CO2. You can
manipulate the volume of the container, temperature of the ingredients
or amount of gas that is produced in order to change the characteristics
of the fire extinguisher.
