Mother, son murdered in Barisal

Police have recovered dead bodies of a mother and a son in Barisal’s Babuganj.

Monica Mridha, 65 and Sushil Mridha, 45 were found murdered in their own home at Christianpara of the Upazila’s Deghergoti village around 11:30am on Tuesday.

Monica’s other son Somiron Mridha, 40 is missing since the recovery.

Police said the mother and her two sons used to live in the house.

Halima Begum, a local in the village, said she called out for Sushil after she saw their door shut while she was passing by the house.
 She peeped through the ventilator of the one-storey building and began screaming when she saw the floor covered in blood.


The locals soon called police.

Barisal’s Superintendant of Police AKM Ehsan Ullah, said police broke through the door’s padlock to find the dead bodies.

“They were both hacked with sharp weapons. Their heads were smashed.”

Police feels they were murdered 24 to 36 hours ago.

“We are assuming Somiron Mridha, who is missing, could have been involved in their murders because of some feud in the family,” said SP Ehsan Ullah.
